My blogging has been sporadic recently, so apologies for lack of updates. I am trying to get a bit more organised with my blog and try and work it into my week, so hopefully there will be more posts coming soon.

This is a recent piece that was exhibited in the 'Bicycle Bespoke' exhibition in the northandsouthideas gallery.

It is now available to buy at my recently set up etsy shop as a limited edition giclee print. You can also now get a limited edition print of 'plunger', and soon there will be lots of other treats up there too!

I will have a couple of pieces in this exhibition run by Boxbird Gallery. My two pieces were inspired by Bergman's 'The Seventh Seal' and Buneul's 'That obscure object of desire'. Alice has shown me some of the work and it looks absolutely amazing. And I'm just around the corner, so pop in for some tea and a movie!

I absolutely love animals, but hate zoos, so old taxidermy is one of my favourite things! Here are some drawings from the Natural History Museum. If anyone is interested in taking a trip up there with me to draw animals ALL DAY LONG, who possibly has two comfy portable chairs then let me know!

And I just realized that I have yet to post some of the drawings that I produced for the free range show in London! I am currently working on a new website, and lots of tasty new personal work, but here is one an old one for now

I have started to notice as a freelancer just starting out, that the people who really make themselves a good living out of art seem to have a huge amount of ego and self-belief. As this does not come naturally to most people, I have been wondering how to fill up my ego tank without becoming the kind of person that is not fun to be around in real life. Should I develop some kind of alter-ego when I sit down to my desk to start work, and leave that person behind when I interact with people? How many people are struggling with this hugely integral part of being a professional illustrator/artist? And what do YOU do to combat it? (Please help me!). Anyway, my new year's resolution for next year is to blog more. And also comment on the kajillion other blogs I read. I think it is a good habit to get your work and thoughts out into the world rather than keep them trapped up inside your mini world.

It's a few days until I start hanging my degree show and I've pretty much finished everything so I'm just playing about with a few new images for the London show. I think it's come to the point in the degree when it's very important not to compare myself to others. With everyone hanging, and more obviously with everyone getting their mark and winning prizes it's going to be too easy to slip into this. I keep imagining myself on an illustration biggest loser or next top model. If I lose I feel rubbish, and if I win I get arrogant. I just need to remember to stay inside my own little bubble and win all the ruth prizes I can get.

Here are some more favourites for you. I've been working hard so decided to have a night off tonight. Mostly because all of my ink pens have started to refuse to work properly. They either produce no ink at all, or large drops of ink fall in very detailed areas. 2 weeks to go and I only need 4 more amazing images, so I'm not too worried at this stage. Happy stress-free Ruth!
